Hello, and Welcome!
A little about me. I am a PROUD Canadian, although I was not born here. My parents immigrated when my siblings and I were little. And when it came time to take the citizenship oath, they chose for all of us. But you know what? If I had the choice myself, I would still choose to be Canadian, and would take the oath happily barefaced. I firmly believe that we live in the GREATEST country on earth.
My reading tastes run more to Fantasy and Sci-Fi. Always have, and probably always will. My viewing tastes as well. I am a long time Whovian, and an LOTR geek and an avid Game of Thrones fan. I would love to see Roger Zelazny’s Chronicles of Amber built in TV format. Given the right script writers, producer, director and actors, I think it would make for an amazing weekly serial. I have been known to read and watch a science program, a bio or two, “based on true story” books and shows and other non-fictional works. As a result of which, I have a storehouse of useless trivia in the recesses of my mind that sometimes pop up and amaze my other half.
I enjoy a good discussion with differences in opinion, and most times I even learn a thing or two from them. I am a proponent of the philosophy of “If I learn one new thing per day, my day wasn’t wasted”. So though I am not a pup, I can be taught new tricks.
I dabble a bit in photography, although I don’t really know what I am doing. Sometimes I pull off some pretty good pictures, but mostly by complete fluke. I would like to be able to take the time to figure out the whole photography thing better, just so that I have fewer garbage pictures in storage. Perhaps when I retire. But I can take pictures well enough to evoke my memories of events in my life and the lives of the people I love. Usually. If I remember to have the battery properly charged.
I have children and grandchildren, all of whom I am inordinately proud. They are the light of my life and the apples of my eye. My daughter-in-law, who is much more daughter than in law is also my best friend, and I am so very lucky that she chose to join my family. I look forward to an increase in the in-law department, and with as much success! I know those people are out there.
Historically, I have never been a political person, but as I get older I am certainly paying much more attention. Although, thanks to my other half who encourages me to no end, I am not afraid to speak my mind when there is something that I need to speak my mind about.
My life experiences have made me who I am. And I am quite happy with who I am. Other people maybe won’t agree, but I am comfortable enough with myself that I really don’t give a damn. And oh yeah, fair warning, I do have a potty mouth, and I do kiss my grandchildren with that mouth and they like it!
I hope to use this blog to speak my mind when it becomes an imperative, to publish my observations on the goings on in the city that I live in, this great country, and the world. Again, some people may not like my observations, but it is what it is. And maybe to share a few of my better pictures. I would also like to share some of the blogs that I follow.
UPDATE: I recently started to contribute regularly to Skatronixxx, a blog that started small but is rapidly growing. We are the Little Engine that Could! I have added the link at the top of the page. Team Skatronixxx reviews books, TV, movies, music and all things pop-culture. Check it out!
That’s all for now. Thanks for reading!

Thanks! Yeah, I get that feeling about my kids too, lol, especially if I am a bit late giving them their bit of wet food that they get at night for a treat. You should see the stares I get when it’s getting close to time. I have NO idea how they even know it’s getting close to time lol, but they always start the stare within a minute or so of the exact same time every night (8:56). And then the way they practically vibrate when I’m dishing it out! 9.5 is a big, big boy! My one boy was quite large…. about 9 kg, but your Elvis beats him hands down. I miss him. But our Snow is rapidly filling the gap. Our Brown girl can be a real byotch too. Gender thing? lol
